International Women’s Day 2024
On this #IWD2024, we want to celebrate all of the #HopperAward winners and the teachers who work tirelessly every day to #CloseTheGenderGap in Computing Science. You are all remarkable! You can view the Hopper Award winners here. We would love to work with companies serious about closing the gender gap and nurturing the tech talent pipeline in our schools. If you're keen to provide opportunities for these exceptional #HopperAward winners, get in touch.
We also have two FREE awards for every secondary school in Scotland! The #HopperAward & #TuringAward recognise excellence in Computing Science. This isn't just for senior pupils but can be awarded to BGE. Schools can claim their award here. If you know a school that hasn't claimed their free award, please share the link above. These are permanent awards for schools handed to a new pupil every year. Our #HopperAwards are in their fourth year!
Nurturing talent at every age and stage is crucial! In Scotland last year, there were 135 female entries compared to 530 male entries at Advanced Higher Computing Science. We want to help change this. We've are proud to introduced our new Promising Software Developer of the Year award.
Inspiring pupils into Computing Science at a young age is crucial. So we also offer our FREE Hopper & Turing certificates for all primary schools, recognising excellence from Nursery to Primary 7 and creating a pipeline to our #HopperAwards in Secondary schools. Primaries can claim their free certificates here.
We also know the power of role models. Role models for pupils are incredibly important, and peer role models hold significant influence! We're proud of our role model posters initiative. Proving pupils a platform to say why they choose Computing Science and be featured role models on the walls of their classrooms. Check it out here.
International Women's Day is a chance for us to celebrate the incredible talent at grassroots level, alongside the dedicated teachers who support them but also acts as a reminder there's still much work to be done.
