Explore Scotland's Computing Science Landscape with Interactive Dashboard
In collaboration with the Scottish Tech Army, we have created an interactive dashboard for the landscape of Computing Science education in Scotland. This innovative tool leverages publicly available data, pulling it together into an interactive format. Special recognition to Aba-Sah Dadzie, Blaga Baycheva, and Eleanor Mitchell for their hard work and commitment to bringing this project to fruition.
Computing Science plays a vital role across all sectors of the economy, understanding these trends and challenges is extremely important. This interactive dashboard empowers stakeholders with valuable data to inform future strategies and ensure a thriving Computing Science landscape in Scotland. By comparing data with other traditional STEM subjects, it puts into context where Computing Science is in comparison in terms of gender gap, overall uptake, teacher recruitment and teacher age demographic.
Unveiling Trends from 1986 Onwards
The dashboard offers valuable insights into subject uptake, gender gap, and teacher numbers across Scotland, providing a comprehensive picture from 1986 onwards. This historical perspective allows for trend analysis, highlighting potential areas of concern and charting the evolving landscape of Computing Science education.
Finalist Recognition and Ongoing Commitment
This project's merit is evident in its recognition as a finalist in the 2024 British Data Awards. With continued support from the amazing volunteers at the Scottish Tech Army this project will be maintained and updated. The most recent data is currently being processed.
